Welcome to

St. John’s

Worship with us every Sunday at 10 am.

Come experience our close-knit and welcoming community at St. John’s, where our growing congregation boasts a long, rich history and hearts full of love. With an active and vibrant group, we passionately embrace the gospel and open our arms to the Martinsburg community.

In alignment with our forward-thinking and inclusive principles, we wholeheartedly stand in solidarity with and offer unwavering support to the LGBTQIA+ community. At St. John’s, our mission is to share the boundless love of Jesus with the world, fostering an affirming and compassionate environment for everyone.

We believe in work toward justice and wholeness in the world as demonstrated in the gospel. Our purpose is to welcome, educate, and uplift our congregation and the surrounding community. As such, we are committed to racial equity and the celebration of the rich tapestry of humanity,

What to Expect

When you come to worship, you will be welcomed joyfully. A weekly bulletin is provided to follow along with during the service. Our worship includes singing, hearing the word, meeting Christ in the font, and receiving Christ at the table.

We only ask that you come as you are.

There is no need for certain attire or tithing, and you certainly do not need to be perfect. At St. John’s, we don’t believe in telling you how to worship. Your presence is a gift in itself, so come rejoice in the Lord with us!

A brief children’s sermon is provided during each service, ensuring God’s message is accessible to all ages. Additionally, we provide Children’s Celebrates; small packets of coloring and activity pages that help to teach the weekly message.

We have an accessible entrance on the side of the building where everyone enters on Sunday morning. There is an elevator available to reach the sanctuary upstairs, as well as the chapel and bathrooms downstairs.

ELCA

Our values are grounded in faith, in our biblical and Lutheran confessional sources and our love of God and neighbor. They speak to the way this church lives and practices our faith, and they will guide how we journey forward in Christ as church together. For more information on our denomination, visit elca.org
